GMK Transformer: grain-oriented electrical steel cuts standby power.

Founded in Osaka in 1989, SHT Corporation makes passive magnetic components — and we make our own cores. While most inductors use ferrite, dust cores or non-oriented steel, we wind ours from grain-oriented electrical steel (CRGO), with winding, annealing, impregnation and gap cutting all done in house. Higher flux density means a smaller, lighter part with lower iron and copper loss.The GMK Transformer shows what that delivers: 48% lighter, 37% smaller and 81% less standby power than an equivalent EI type — ideal for UPS, AVR, inverters, medical equipment and data centre power. Production runs across plants in Japan, the Philippines and Thailand, on fully automated lines. Our purpose is simple: maximise energy efficiency, and keep this planet beautiful.
